Wheel Throwing Classes

In our 6 week pottery course, you will learn the basic skills of wheel thrown pottery. During each three-hour lesson you will be guided to discover your personal approach to the art of clay throwing. Learn the essential skills of wedging, centering (the most gloriously frustrating, hypnotising process you’ll ever experience), wheel throwing, trimming and decorating. You’ll be able to take a ball of mud and throw it into something beautiful and unique. In the final week, we come together for a glazing session to turn our masterpieces into fully functional ceramics. Projects may include small bowls, tumblers, plant pots, vases and mugs.

 

This course is aimed at beginners and also for those who’ve had a few lessons, but need a refresher to improve their technique. We recommend that you wear clothing that can get muddy and bring an old towel. Short fingernails can be an advantage.

 

Instruction, glaze, all materials and firings are included. Clay is available for purchase at $25 per bag.
