Event Details

We are delighted to present two outstanding musicians with family connections in the Fraser Valley. Paul Williamson grew up in Mission. Karl Stobbe has a brother in Langley and extended family members in the Fraser Valley. The duo will perform a program which includes works that  carry personal significance. Stobbe commissioned Michael Oesterle to compose the Biber Suite based on music by Heinrich Biber. He played Alba at the funeral of the beloved Vancouver composer Jocelyn Morlock.

Karl Stobbe is the concertmaster of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and a violin instructor at the University of Manitoba. He has enjoyed an extensive performance career as a soloist with orchestra, as a chamber musician, and playing repertoire for solo violin. The London Sunday Times described him as “a master soloist, recalling the golden age of violin playing.”
